Online Communiction Introductory Essay In a normal day I would say that I use a lot of technology. I use a lot of technology for many reasons. Things like school and for just recreational things that I like to do. My computer is probably the most used piece of technology that I have. Every day I either have an essay to type or a project to research for. I also use my computer for other things like Facebook, ESPN.com, movies and music as well. My computer is essential to my ipod, which I use all the time. I listen to my ipod all the time just to relax and keep me focused on my homework or working out. I use my computer to download music, games, and video to my ipod.
I often play my XBOX 360 at night before I go in my room to sleep. I play many games that range from Madden 09’ (Football) to Guitar Hero or Gears of War. I play against a wide range of people on xbox live which connects me through the internet to all my friends so that I could chat and play with or against them. I also have a Playstation Portable(PSP) that I play almost every day when I’m bored. In order to play my XBOX I need a TV to play on. I have a relatively old TV with IO Digital Cable. This gives me the opportunity to watch the latest episode of 24 maybe watch a sports game or a lot of times, movies.
In my daily life I use my phone all the time. Whether I am texting or talking to my girlfriend or others friends. I use my house phone only when I am running low on minutes. In addition to using the phone a lot I like to listen to the radio in the car or in my room. I enjoy music a lot.
Out of all of my technology I would have to say listening to music is my favorite activity. I listen to it almost everyday whether its for homework or listening to it just to relax.
Web 2.0 is a new wave way of accessing the internet and gives users a chance to put their input on discussions and topics. This is all through blogs and message boards like facebook and myspace. This process is new and pretty complex but it makes things alot easier than before when to make a webpage you had to use multiple kinds of software to get it started and then you posted the cite. Now you go on a website and you can add what you want to it with no problem. Web 2.0 is used by pretty much everyone now days. I use Web 2.0 all the time. I am using it now on this wikispaces website. I also use Web 2.0 when i am talking to my friends on facebook and bloging about sports games while im watching them on the computer with people i have never met before. I never realized how much easier things are on the computer now with Web 2.0 in use. Web 2.0 will be around for a long time and will be making people happy as well.
Computer technology has made some huge progress in the last 30 years. It goes as far back as the Timex Sinclair 1000 which was the first home computer. It was manufactured in July of 1982. The Commodore 64 was personal computer with 40 times the amount of memory as the Timex Sinclair 1000. It was manufactured in August of 1982 and was the most sold single model of all time. DOS is another piece of computer technology which stands for “Disk Operating System”. This gave way to the use of compact discs which are still used pretty often now as well. Pong is a first generation video game released originally as a coin-operated arcade game by Atari Inc. in November of 1972. Pong is based on the sport of table tennis or “ping pong”. Prodigy Communications Corporation was an online service which offered access to the news, weather, shopping, games, polls, banking, stocks, travel, and many other widely used things. CompuServe was the first instant messenger. It is pretty much like AOL Instant Messenger of today but this was back in 1969.
WebTV is what is known as streaming videos. This is what you are using when you are watching your favorite shows on the internet or watching youtube with your friends.
This comercial was for coke zero and i felt even though it was a funny comercial it got the point across. They used the old classic "Mean Joe Green" comercial from a while back and made a parody out of it and made a twist in it and instead of "Mean Joe" you had Troy Palamau who is another steelers legend like "Mean Joe". So that made it interesting to watch and right when i saw it i knew exactly what they were trying to sell in the commercial. They even added some humor to make me laugh which makes the commercial that much better to me.
